RÉINVENTÉ
Les personnages de nylon de Rosa Verloop, lors de leur découverte il y a quelques années, ont tout de suite exercé sur moi une grande fascination. Rosa, par la manipulation de ce tissu synthétique, comme par magie, parvient à évoquer la chair, construisant ces corps difformes et incomplets qui tiennent du magnifique et du dramatique, capables d’inspirer à plusieurs la peur, voire l’horreur, mais qui, pour sûr, ne laissent aucun indifférent.
Born in 1954 Lubumbashi – Congo. Begun his artistic career in theatre and participated in the first experiences of improvised theatre. Self taught in visual arts. Started photography and digital art after a serious illness. His recent work consists of an exploration of the individual differences in the perception of time and space through landscapes. Another part of his work focus on the relationship between different cultures in this New World Disorder. Lives and works in Brussels.

«I was born in Zhongshan, China in 1950. Educated in China, Hong Kong and in Canada. My works were usually two dimensions, mostly print-making, drawing and paintings. After trying out to carve on a piece of fire-wood, I fell in love with it! In the summer of 2006, I began to work on these series (33 pieces). As I worked on every piece, seems like each piece has its own character and its own stories to tell. Of course, it is all about history. Every single one of them are from the two old birch trees (maybe 90 years old), growing on the boulevard next to our house.»

Le Crabe de Sibérie se nourrit d’ordures et d’insectes domestiques qu’il peut détecter à plusieurs mètres grâce à son odorat. Il vit dans des crevasses aménagées dans les planchers ou les murs. On le retrouve aussi en Mongolie et dans le nord de la Chine.

Le grand peintre britannique Lucian Freud nous a quitté le 20 juillet dernier. Il était agé de 88 ans. Il serait décédé des suites d’une courte maladie.
